This time around, U.S. Potato Culinary Festival 2018 brought me to a newly opened restaurant to enjoy new and innovative dishes featuring many varieties of U.S. potatoes – Piccolino Restaurant at Taman Desa, near Old Klang Road.
Piccolino @ Taman Desa
Hailed in Sardinia, their head chef has created 2 interesting dishes using different varieties of U.S. Fresh and U.S. Frozen potatoes.
Spud Stacks – Lovely crispy U.S. Wedges with sautéed mushroom and bacon that packed a flavorful punch tickled my taste buds. It is accompanied by thin Parmesan U.S. Potato stacks. Interesting!
Spud Trio – Fan of potatoes, REJOICE! Here’s an ensemble of potatoes trio for you. Here’s what you’ll be getting: Gravy stuffed U.S. Mashed Potatoes, crispy U.S. Potato spinach balls and baked U.S. Potato topped with minced sausages, cheese and a dollop of sour cream. How appetizing! My favorite from the trio is the crispy U.S. Potato spinach balls.
In the last post, I have shared why U.S. Potatoes are of great quality and thus, preferred by chefs worldwide. Now, let me tell you about how nutritious potatoes are.
Potatoes are an indispensable source of nutrition. One 148 gram potato packs only 110 calories, but 18% of the RDV (recommended daily value) of potassium and 45% of the RDV of vitamin C. U.S. processors use state-of-the-art technology to meet high industry standards. The finished product is instantly quick-frozen to lock in the flavour and nutrients of fresh potatoes. Hence, you’re getting the maximum protection from the potatoes you ate!
Aside from enjoying yummy food, you also get to stand a chance to win iPad 9.7 inch and other attractive prizes. Tempting much?

Additional dishes we’ve tried:
Pork Belly Salad – If oink oink is your favorite meat, Piccolino is the best choice as they serve a lot of varieties in their menu. Almost 70% of their menu consists of pork and this Pork Belly Salad is one of the interesting dishes they have. Isn’t this your first time encountering pork belly salad too? And it tastes pretty amazing. Try it!
Pork Ribs: Piccolino’s head chef is very good in preparing pork dishes and this is why his pork ribs taste so good! Perfectly marinated, it was also grilled just right to end up tender and juicy!
