I was really really looking forward to this day of the week where I can finally have a taste of the food at Maison Francaise (French House). I’ve heard so much about Maison Francaise and therefore, I must try it to believe it!
Maison Francaise (French House)
Maison Francaise KL is a hidden gem located inside the residential area on Changkat Kia Peng; just far enough to escape from the hustle bustle of the city but yet, they are only 5-10 minutes away.
This 3-storey white bungalow might look ordinary from the outside but you’ll be surprised how romantic it looked like on the inside. Maison Francaise was fitted with elegant crystal chandeliers, artistic French paintings and high-end leather seats. Overall, it’s a modern French house with minimalist design.
During daytime, Maison Francaise receives a lot of natural sunlight thanks to the glass windows which enable us to enjoy the beautiful view outside. We were seated at the second floor of the restaurant, overlooking the blue pool at Soirée
S.Pellegrino Sparkling Mineral Water
We didn’t order anything fancy to drink, just the finest sparkling natural mineral water – San Pellegrino to prepare our palate for some fine French cuisine.
Complimentary French breads
As this was my first visit, I totally had no idea on what I should order from their extensive menu. Finally, I met their French Chef, Executive Chef Thierry Le Baut and we agreed to go according to chef’s recommendation. After confirming our food preferences, Executive Chef Thierry Le Baut went back into the kitchen and whipped up some excellent dishes for us.
Broccoli mousse topped with caviar
Our starter was Brocolli Mousse Topped with Caviar that has an amazingly smooth texture. Bursting with flavor of broccoli, it almost melted instantly on our tongues. The caviar was a bonus.
Crunchy snail in butter, garlic and hazelnuts, sauteed spinach
Price: RM 90++
Clumsy Boy was served a warm appetizer – Crunchy snail in butter, garlic and hazelnuts, sauteed spinach. Every bite of this was so heavenly as it is crunchy on the outside but soft and scrummy with garlic butter foam. I couldn’t help but to secretly take more servings from Clumsy Boy’s portion.
Tuna fish tartare, ginger oil, cucumber jelly
Price: RM 55++
For my appetizer, it was a very visually pleasing Tuna Fish Tartare, Ginger Oil, Cucumber Jelly. The cold tuna fish tartare was constructed beautifully on top of the cucumber jelly. I can totally imagine the amount of effort put by the kitchen team to come up with these dishes. Hence, I savored each and every part of the dish slowly to properly taste it.
Pan fry seabass, sauteed cocktail potatoes and grapes,
lemon grass sauce and ginger and mint emulsion
Price: RM 88++
Clumsy Boy had Pan fry seabass, sauteed cocktail potatoes and grapes, lemon grass sauce and ginger and mint emulsion as main course. The seabass was pan fried perfectly to retain the moisture inside and topped with lemon grass sauce, ginger and mint emulsion to further enhance the taste.
Lamb with crunchy mint, sauteed favas beans and tomatoes,
sweet potatoes and raisins tatin
Price: RM 98++
I love my mains to bits – it was Lamb with crunchy mint, sauteed favas beans and tomatoes,
sweet potatoes and raisins tatin. I requested my meat to be prepared medium rare and hence, I was greeted by lovely juicy and tender lamb coated with crunchy mint! The sweet potatoes and raisins tatin that complemented the dish was excellent too.
Super juicy lamb meat!
Guanaja Pyramid, Raspberry Sorbet
Price: RM 34++
Guanaja Pyramid and Raspberry Sorbet was a sinful yet delectable dessert. According to the informative staff, the pyramid shaped chocolate mousse was made using the most expensive chocolate in South America. The raspberry sorbet was very refreshing and suitable to balance the sweetness of chocolate.
Apple tart, creamy saffron sabayon, chocolate mousse, apple sorbet
Price: RM 36++
Another dessert we had was Apple tart, creamy saffron sabayon, chocolate mousse, apple sorbet. The chocolate mousse was definitely a sweet ending to an excellent fine dining experience. I just hoped the apple sorbet was less sour.
Overall, we had a great time enjoying carefully crafted French cuisine at the romantic Maison Francaise. Every dish is a piece of art that deserves admiration. The service was also excellent as all their staffs are very well-informed about the dishes and wines offered. If you need any help, they’ll be happy to suggest and explain the details.Besides A la Carte, Maison Francaise also offer Gourmand and Dégustation Menu. Price and list of dishes can be found in the link below. Price is a bit on the higher side but rest assured that it is money well spent =)
