With the finest of Western and Asian flavours, Serai offers fabulous culinary creations with home-cooked taste that delight many Malaysians and international visitors. Having opened five outlets, the Group is looking into serving up a variety of great tasting cuisines that makes dining at Serai such a memorable time. One of the specialities of Serai Restaurants is that it offers homemade desserts and cakes. I have sampled their Christmas menu dishes last week at Serai @ Life Centre, KL. The experience was an unforgettable one.

The Executive Chef and Director of Serai Group is the talented Sabahan Mohd Najib Abdul Hamid and he had the good opportunity to cook for many celebrities in Australia such as Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, Micheal Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, and Kylie Minogue, to name a few. He has proved his skills in front of us when he conducted a cooking demonstration of Pan fried salmon with maple syrup and lemon thyme.

Cake of the day would be offered as dessert in the Christmas Set Menu. We’ve tried Pistachio Gateau with Mousseline Cream and Mixed Berries, Butter Cake with Coconut Sprinkle and Passion Fruit Pyramids with Mascarpone. Everyone went gaga over Pistachio Gateau with Mousseline Cream and Mixed Berries as the taste of pistachio is intense but yet not too overwhelming. Chef Najib explained that it is because they imported high quality pistachio paste to create this amazing cake!

Butter Cake with Coconut Sprinkle was awesome too! Seeing the cute snowman makes me feel reluctant to eat it up. But once you start, you can never stop! The buttery soft cake is very addictive and the roasted coconut sprinkles enhanced the aroma of the cake.
