On 26th July 2012, I was invited to Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 media preview as a blogger. When I heard that it’s a compact camera, I thought it would be those normal old boring type of camera.

Upon hands on, I was kinda shocked to see the amazing outcome. I especially love the bokeh effects in the photos that I took effortlessly as the lens features seven-bladed circular aperture. During the whole hands on process, I only used Auto mode. As I’m not an avid photographer, I prefer less technical settings as possible to achieve good results.

This pocketable Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 will be in the stores early August 2012 with the retail price of RM 2,499.

Here are some of the photos I took using Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100:

Wow, this is not just another Compact camera. It's very close to dslr in terms of price, setting control and image quality.

A bit pricey but, if you dont like the bulky slr then this should be a decent alternative. Great pics there, BTW.

    1. Charmaine Pua says:

Pretty cool camera. Since I had my DSLR, lately I feel so lazy lugging the big ass camera everywhere I think I need a smaller, more compact camera but with DSLR photo quality. The photos from this camera doesn't look so bad! 🙂

    1. Charmaine Pua says:

That's exactly how I feel XD

  10. Yuki says:

The photos have awesome quality for such a small camera! I'm used to the fact that bigger pro-cameras take nice photos and smaller cameras are just for everyday use, lol 😛

  19. George Lim says:

Was going to test out this unit for my photography needs. How is it perform as compared with the NEX models?

    1. Charmaine Pua says:

I find it not as complicated as NEX models.
Probably they target beginners for this camera 😉

  20. foodeverywhere says:

Looks really good, except it is a little pricy. But Sony products are always pricier than the rest. A/S is good thou, so I guess it comes with the price. But honestly, I own 4 Sony cameras and non gave me any warraanty issue. I guess they manage to deliver the quality eventhough cameras aren't really their forte.

    1. Charmaine Pua says:

Quality comes first! I'd rather pay a bit more than having to warranty! 😀
