The first item in our itinerary was to visit Masjid Raya Medan (Masjid Raya Al Mashun). Also known as Great Mosque of Medan, this mosque already has more than 100 years of history.
I actually wanted to go in and have a look but it seems that it would be hard for non-Muslim to enter. Plus, we were running out of time after getting caught in a massive jam from Kualanamu International Airport to Medan. What seemed to be an hour’s trip became 2 hours!
Standing at 120 meters and approximately 800 meters above sea level, Sipiso-piso Waterfall (Air Terjun Sipiso-piso) is known as the highest waterfall in Indonesia. This legendary waterfall is located at Tongging Village, Kabanjahe, Karo regency in North Sumatra.
PANIC! Didn’t realize that our Malaysian passport has already expired until few days before Medan/Lake Toba trip. Since our house is near Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN) Jalan Duta, we decided to go to Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia (JIM) that is just inside the building to renew our passports. This is also one of the most efficient JPN/JIM branch in Kuala Lumpur because it’s the headquarter. It’s located just opposite Publika.
