Yoodo, Malaysia’s first truly digital mobile service provider that gives users full control in customizing their mobile plan to whatever suits their needs is adding another notch to its growing list of “firsts” by signing on the champions of the recent Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) MOBILE National Championships (PMNC).
The move into e-sports started when Yoodo stepped into the mobile gaming sphere by becoming the Official Digital Telco for Malaysia’s first official Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) 2018 in its effort to empower all user lifestyles, by partnering with gaming giant, Tencent Games. On the back of this exciting partnership, Yoodo introduced the first ever PUBG MOBILE-specific data add-on, another first in the country.
Wanting to take their commitment to e-sports to the next level, Yoodo didn’t just stop at sponsoring mobile plans for the winning team. Instead, they rose to the challenge of supporting Malaysia’s budding e-sports scene by fully sponsoring the team, rechristening the team at Yoodo Gank – Yoodo’s official PUBG e-sports team. They will be taking part in PUBG MOBILE tournaments all across the world putting Malaysia’s name on the global PUBG MOBILE competitive scene.
Yoodo Gank, managed under Gank Asia, consists of skilled gamers; team captain Aiman Amirul Bin Mohd Said (ManParang), 22, Mohd Hazim Bin Abd Hamid (Jimboy), 25, Abdul Azim Ikromi Bin Abdul Rashad (Draxx), 20 and Mohammad Hafizi Bin Baharudin (Geek), 23.
Commenting on the announcement, Chow Tuck Mun, Head of Yoodo, said, “We are excited to announce the next phase in our commitment to e-sports and gamers with the unveiling of Yoodo Gank. PUBG MOBILE is one of the world’s most popular games with 30 million active daily users worldwide. Through Yoodo Gank we aim to cement Malaysia’s name as a true challenger in this arena.”
Beat The Champs
They say if you can’t join the Gank, beat the Gank. Looking to further expand their reach to all gamers in Malaysia and further encourage the competitive spirit and development of local talent, Yoodo is proud to announce the “Beat The Champs” competition. Beat The Champs is a monthly online tournament where PUBG MOBILE players from across the country can aim their scopes at the champions, Yoodo Gank, to take them down and take home a cash prize of RM600 plus RM50 in Yoodo credit.
The monthly tournament begins on 28 March with a two quick play round sessions with 24-four player teams (including Yoodo’s very own PMNC Champions Yoodo Gank) based on the standard PMNC 2018 scoring system. Additional points will be awarded for kills on Yoodo Gank members. Players can join in the game by visiting the competition microsite 2-hours before the match. There will also be live streams of the matches on Facebook for viewers to catch the incredible action.
To celebrate gamers, PUBG MOBILE fans can also enjoy the game with zero data charges thanks to Yoodo’s special promotion that provides Yoodoers with 20GB of secure and fast 4G LTE data for PUBG MOBILE until 30 April 2019. This allowed players to game without worry of eating into their general data.
Yoodo is setting the next phase of their game plan to further support e-sports in motion by collaborating with the world’s largest gaming company – Tencent Games to further celebrate the 1st Anniversary of PUBG MOBILE with local fans at KL Live this 23 March, Saturday at 6pm onwards. At the same time, Yoodo is also working on the highly anticipated PMNC 2019.
