Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with Parenthood Media and its community arm KitaParents, recently hosted “Sip & Share” — an intimate café-style talk series created to spark open and honest conversations around women’s health.

The inaugural session, themed “Perimenopause Unfiltered,” took place in Cyberjaya and marked the official launch of Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur’s 2026 movement, “What Women Want (For Health).” The initiative aims to position Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur as a supportive, safe space where women can openly discuss their health journeys—free from stigma, judgment, or misinformation.

Breaking the Silence on Perimenopause

For many Malaysian women, perimenopause remains widely misunderstood—often brushed off as “just stress” or a natural sign of ageing. Through this initiative, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur bridges the gap between clinical expertise and real-life experiences, making conversations around hormonal health more accessible and relatable.

The session featured Dr Premitha Damodaran, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur and a Board Member of the International Menopause Society. She led an engaging and interactive discussion, offering attendees the opportunity to better understand symptoms that are often endured in silence.

“Women today juggle multiple roles—as mothers, professionals, and caregivers—often at the expense of their own physiological well-being,” shared Teresa Chin, CEO of Parenthood Media. “By bringing medical experts out of the clinic and into a café setting, we’re making essential health knowledge more approachable and community-driven.”

Reflecting on the session, Dr Premitha added:

“Many women experiencing perimenopause feel isolated because they don’t realise their symptoms are part of a larger hormonal transition. Awareness is key. When women understand what their bodies are going through, they can take back control of their well-being—and realise they don’t have to suffer in silence.”

Real Conversations, Shared Experiences

The event brought together a close-knit group of mothers from the Parenthood and KitaParents community, creating a warm and relatable environment for discussion.

To encourage meaningful conversations, participants engaged with thoughtfully designed prompt cards featuring questions like:

“One thing I blamed on stress… but now I’m not so sure”
“The symptom I Googled at 2am but didn’t dare ask anyone about”

These prompts helped spark honest, judgment-free sharing—highlighting just how common (yet rarely discussed) these experiences are among women.

To further maintain a safe and inclusive space, attendees were able to submit anonymous questions during a live Q&A session. Dr Premitha addressed each query with empathy and clarity, ensuring every participant felt heard and supported.

The evening concluded with a Buka Puasa and networking session, allowing attendees to connect, unwind, and build a sense of community over light refreshments.

You Don’t Have to Go Through It Alone

Perimenopause is a natural yet significant phase of life—and no woman should have to navigate it alone.

If you’re experiencing symptoms that affect your quality of life, or simply feel uncertain about the changes in your body, seeking professional guidance can make all the difference. Speaking to a qualified specialist, such as the team at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, can help you better understand your condition and explore a management plan tailored to your needs.

Because when it comes to women’s health, the conversation should never be silent.
