Seek no more if you’ve been finding for a mascara that gives you a natural kawaii look because the answer is here – CANMAKE Flaring Curl Mascara. While brown mascara tends to blend into the background too much and thus reducing the impact of your eyes, black looks too harsh. They have cleverly came out with a solution which is combining brown fluid with black fibers that are usually added to make black mascara look jet black. Hence, the color Chocolate Black that gives a soft yet wide-eyed look.

Japanese Cold Perm Experience @ Nekderx Academy

So a golden opportunity to get a hair makeover came when Miriam asked on Facebook whether anyone wanna do Japanese Cold Perm as a model or not. I’ve always wanted to restyle my hair because I feel very frustrated handling my messy and frizzy hair plus it doesn’t look straight nor curly. It’s curly at parts I want it to be straight and vice versa.

But then again, I’m not a person who love changes. Kinda worry that I might not like how I look later. Don’t care la, in the end went to Nekderx Academy @ Damansara Perdana to do it. Never try, never know.

The appointment was delayed half an hour because they had a workshop earlier and it ended later than expected. So we went to The Curious Goat cafe that is just beside Nekderx and I ordered a cup of Chai Latte. It was sooo good, that nostalgic feeling crept in since I haven’t had Chai Latte for quite some time already.

It's been so long, Chai Latte! #vscocam #coffee #cafehopping #cafehoppingmalaysia

I actually didn’t know what kind of event is that. I initially thought it’s some kind of competition because there were a few models and the stylists were divided into different teams. Through conversations with them, then only I found out that it’s a workshop.

Before they start to work on my hair, they discussed on how to cut it, asked how I like the curls to be (I prefer large curls so it will look more natural and less matured) and then explained to the Japanese sensei (Mr. Matsumoto from Serio Salon, Japan). He will give them some pointers and then after he approved their idea, they can start to execute it.

They were so good to help me spray on Milbon Inphenom Accel Water and Milbon Inphenom Inner CMC first before cutting my hair. So jaga my hair! ♥ The team in charge of my hair was from Hair Impression, Penang and the stylist who cut my hair is called Pessy Tai. Her hair cutting speed was so fast but it turned out really good. I’m impressed!

The best thing about Japanese Cold Perm is, it doesn’t involve heat so I assume it’s better than digital perm cos excessive heat can damage hair. So what they did was curl my hair with curling rollers and keep squeezing the solution onto my hair (like, a lot!). After 15-20 minutes, my hair was rinsed and blow dried. They checked my hair and cut a bit more to further perfect it. Matsumoto san also came over and help cut my side fringe to make it look more natural and feel lighter.

Here’s the outcome!

I quite like it! Most of my friends also commented that this style looks good on me.
The side fringe made my face look smaller! ^_^v
The whole process only took 1.5 hour. Super fast! I expected to sit there for 4 hours LOL!

Unlike rebonding, permed hair needs to be maintained. They suggested me to apply Milbon Deesse Elujuda Emulsion while my hair is still wet and let it air dry. For cold perm, hair tends to be more curly when it’s wet.

After 2 weeks, the curls looked more natural than before. Photo taken in my room at Estadia Hotel. Need to keep twisting my hair during blow dry but most of the time, I just let it air dry.

BTW, Nekderx Academy is not a salon ya so don’t go there to get your hair permed. They’re just importer and distributor of haircare products and equipments. This academy is mainly to educate their clients on how to use their products.

Maybelline New York turned 100 officially on 15th May 2015 and this date has been declared as Maybelline Day! Happy birthday, Maybelline!!

In 1915, inspired by his sister Mabel, Thomas L. Williams developed a mail-order lash and brow beautifier called LASH-BROW-INE. And like they said, the rest is history. Since then, Maybelline New York has been creating waves and making an impact on women’s lives, empowering us to make a statement by exploring new looks and flaunting our own creativity and individuality.

The birthday bash for Maybelline New York in Malaysia was graced by local celebrities, fashion and beauty editors, bloggers and fans. All of us were treated to a unique runway show featuring 10 decades of 10 iconic looks to mark the occasion.

Their signature phrase, “Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline” was created in 1990, and continues to make an impact on women’s lives even today.

The birthday bash runway show featured Maybelline New York’s 9 decades of iconic looks and one exclusive Future makeup look, created by professional makeup maestro Stevensunny. Each look represents makeup artistry and trends in the past, present and future, made possible with Maybelline New York’s colour cosmetics, which captured the vividness of each decade perfectly. Here are some of the looks that caught my attention:

The Future – The Glam Goddess look

The Glam Goddess look of the future is inspired by the latest makeup trends from Milan and Italy with consideration to make it wearable and relevant for Asian’s features. It makes full use of a blend of sparkling gold and rich brown tones which contrasts against each other beautifully on Malaysians’ skin tone. Stevensunny creates a mixture of light brown and gold on the center, and darker gradient shading on the sides to give a subtle and yet eye-catching effect that is wearable everyday for Malaysian woman. For this Glam Goddess look, Stevensunny used: Eyes

  • Fashion Brown Sharp Pencil in Brown, RM 24.27
