Women’s Common Hair Myths: Busted!

Hair coloring and perming have long been a woman’s dilemma. While these chemical treatments may be the obvious choice for achieving an entirely new look, the thought of aftercare and maintenance can be off-putting.

World renowned hair care brand, Pantene, in its media workshop, unveiled that fading color and curls are not due to one’s hair condition, but are caused by one key component – hair damage. “Research reveals that hair gets damaged every time it goes through color or perm, due to a loss of moisture and the destruction of the hair’s natural protective layer. Even on healthy hair, if the damage from these chemical treatments is not repaired, the results are color that doesn’t last and curls that don’t hold up. The more damaged the hair is, the more apparent they appear to be,” said Lais Koelle, Pantene Hair Care Scientist.

Pantene’s Color & Perm Lasting Care Range
Inspired by these insights, Pantene recently introduced the new Pro-V Colour & Perm Lasting Care product range, set to revolutionize haircare by allowing women to achieve their desired multi-dimensional color and buoyant curls, without compromising on their hair health.

Combining Pantene’s signature Pro-V formula with the all new, Liquid Crystal Shampoo System; a technology that helps create a pseudo F-layer on hair, Colour & Perm Lasting Care is specially designed to both repair and protect the durability of colored and permed hair, guaranteeing 6 weeks of rich and bouncy color perm satisfaction! Conditioning actives increase hair fibres’ hydrophobicity so hair is resistant to damage when in contact with water.

The workshop was also attended by rising starlet Anzalna Nasir and talented shoe designer Christy Ng, who shared their hair concerns and experience with the new Pantene range.

Myth 1: Help! Getting beautiful, healthy coloured hair is just an impossible dream!
Fact: Retaining beautiful colour and curls is not easy but if you protect your hair against damage, it is possible! Pantene’s new Pro-V Colour & Perm Lasting Care range retains the integrity of hair’s fundamental structure through protecting hair fibres with a pseudo F-layer. This keeps colour pigments in hair cuticles and retains disulphite bonds for protected colour and curls that last.

Myth 2: When it comes to chemically treating my hair, some hair damage is inevitable. My hair will always look dried out immediately after the treatment!
Fact: The main reason for dry-looking hair is because hair’s natural hydrophobic F-layer gets damaged through chemical treatments like colouring and perming. With Pantene’s new Liquid Crystal Shampoo System, conditioning actives rebuild hair’s protective layer, locking in fresh colour and perm while maintaining hair’s natural shine.

Myth 3: Because of my dry hair, I avoid colouring or perming my hair as it will become even drier!
Fact: The truth is, you can achieve your ideal hair colour and curls without compromising on your hair’s health. Repair unhealthy hair that looks dried out by using Pantene’s Pro-V Colour & Perm Lasting Care range. Conditioning actives form a pseudo protective layer around the hairs so that water mobility across the cuticle membrane is reduced, allowing less colour pigments to be removed and less disulphite bonds to loosen.

Hair Health Test
A simple hair test can be carried out to determine your hair health. A strand of clean hair can be cut and dropped into a container filled with water. The resulting mixture was then stirred.

If your hair swims

  • The hair is healthy. There is no or little sun or processing damage.

If your hair sinks

  • If the lock sinks, then it means that your hair is damaged, possibly from too many color treatments.
  • It has become so dry and porous that it easily saturates with water. Not good at all!

Did they mention about the best way of removing grey hair? lol. I have lots of them.

And hair dying doesn't make a very big difference. I mean, of course there is. But still got a lot that are not dyed. And whenever I dye my hair, which is less than 5 times haha, the itchiness always killing me. So itchy that I'll sweat like mad.

    Anyway, Happy Tuesday yo!
