Food Review: O'Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe @ Mid Valley Megamall

Honestly, I'm not a person who likes eating salad and raw vegetables cos I can't bear the taste of "raw-ness". It's hard to explain this kind of feeling to my friends since most of my friends are female and they love salad because it's healthy and... that's what you're supposed to eat when you're dieting LOL! Well, I am health concious but I love food a lot so I'm not really ready to give up yummy food for that.

O'Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe @ Mid Valley Megamall

Meals at discounted price daily!

Great coffee is what I need *coffee  addict*

To my surprise though, O'Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe that is originated from Ireland has changed my perception completely about healthy food. Healthy food doesn't necessarily have to taste awful if you're creative like them and know what ingredients to add in order to make it delicious!

Order your food from the bar

Fresh fruits to blend your juice!

Customize your sandwich as you like

They have tarts, muffins, quiche and pies too!

Mmm... what should I drink?

Soup of The Day (RM 6.50)
This mushroom soup is homemade by them.
Thickness is just nice but I'd like to eat more mushroom :)

Our first dish was Classic Caesar Salad with Parmesan, chicken, chicken crisp, crouton, olive, mixed leaves and caesar dressing. It was really impressive as they are using freshest premium ingredients. What's the difference between other Caesar salad I've tasted and this caesar salad is it has chicken crisp! Something crispy and salty to chew has transformed my thoughts. I don't feel so depressed anymore hahaha

Classic Caesar Salad (RM 16)

Next up was O'Briens Chicken Tripledecker Sandwich, one of the best sellers in O'Briens. The combination of Chicken and Chicken Crisp, Lettuce, Cheddar Cheese, Red Onion, Coleslaw & Tomato certainly makes it appetizing. As a small eater, I think I wouldn't be able to finish the whole portion. I'd better bring someone to share my meal during the next visit here.

O'Briens Chicken Tripledecker (RM 18.80)

We also tried Chicken Slice & Cheddar Cheese Hot Shambo. The ingredients are almost the same as the Tripledecker Sandwich but this one has Honey Mustard Mayonnaise in it. The taste is just nice as it's not too sour, a hint of sweetness will linger in your mouth. The shape of this Shambo is rather interesting. It's the shape of a shamrock, stupid me thought that shamrock is a rock (OK stop laughing now >.<) but a search from Wikipedia tells me that it's a three-leafed old white clover known as a symbol of Ireland. This food also comes with crispy potato chips (my favorite!), tastes a little like Pringles but less salty and noticeably thinner!

Chicken Slice & Cheddar Cheese Hot Shambo (RM 15.80)

If you like wraps, I'd recommend Chicken, Chicken Crisp & Cheddar Wrappo. Besides lean chicken meat, chicken crisp and cheddar cheese, red onion, mixed peppers and tomato are also inside this thin tortilla wrap.

Chicken, Chicken Crisp & Cheddar Wrappo (RM 16.50)

While writing this food review, I realized that a healthy diet mustn't just revolve around vegetables and fruits. Our body needs food with complete nutrition in order to function properly and that's why the food in O'briens combines vegetables with chicken meat and cheese.

Frothy Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows (RM 9)
I was so attracted by it! Too bad it wasn't mine :(

Iced Chocolate (RM 11.50)
A little tasteless probably because of the ice. I should have ordered the hot chocolate instead.

Metabolism Booster (RM 12)
A blend of papaya, pineapple juice, frozen yoghurt and crushed ice perfect for girls on diet.

Facial Review @ Cellnique, Taman Segar

After a long depressing week at work, all I need is some relaxation to calm my body and soul. Luckily enough, I've made an appointment for facial near my place at Cellnique Taman Segar so I can release my tension! ^_^

As soon as I've stepped in, I was greeted by a cozy and comforting ambience. Not to forget, the staffs were very friendly too. The consultant first analyzed my skin condition and then proceed to recommend which type of treatment is suitable for me. For my skin condition, it would be Stem Cell Renewal Treatment but because my skin was dehydrated, she further customized the treatment by using Hydrating Masque.

I was led to a comfortable facial room. The beautician was very sensitive and kind enough to ask me whether I will feel cold or not and alerting me during extraction when some stubborn blackheads will need more pressure and might feel pain.

My skin is normally oily and has open pores. Due to stress, PMS and having insomnia lately, my skin has a lot of breakouts :( Unhealthy lifestyle really can affect your skin! So I vowed to sleep earlier, eat less oily food and keep my stress level low from now on.

The facial started by double cleansing my face using Cleansing Milk followed by Seaweed Cleanser. After steaming my face to open the pores, extraction began. There were only minimal pain involved here. Then, I received a pampering scalp and shoulder massage. It feels so good! Finally my tensed shoulder muscles can get back to normal! A cooling masque was then applied to my face and left for around 20 minutes. My face immediately feel soothed and this is the perfect time for me to catch some sleep.

So glad that my inflamed skin became better after the treatment and the redness has subside. I also asked the beautician to shape my eye brows :)

Before the treatment began, I had a tour around the outlet. Besides facial, they also provide body treatments like massage, jacuzzi and steam bath. After the pampering treatment, I groomed myself at the dressing table provided.

For your information, here are the ingredients of the products used in this treatment and their benefits:
  • Wild yam extract - The phytosterols in this root plant has soothing, anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Wild yam extract is an excellent component for mature skin or dry skin conditions.
  • Hydrolyzed soy protein - Has been shown to promote firmer skin by stimulating production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, a powerful water binding agent that increases the ability of the skin to retain moisture.
  • Silk protein - The most advanced nutrient for the skin. It can be directly absorbed by human skin, and aids in moisture retention (silk is credited with the ability to retain 10 000 times its own weight in water). Silk protein further helps improve skin elasticity and resilience, effectively control the production of melanin.
  • Patented wine polyphenols - The greatest threat to skin health and beauty is the prevention of oxidization of skin cells by solar and environmental elements. Wine extract contains polyphenols, a class of over 8,000 different phytochemicals, to revitalize skin.
  • Panthenol - It has been used to effectively add essential moisture deep into skin, this moisture absorption has the effect of filling out the skin, naturally stretching the skin, erasing fine lines and reducing severity of wrinkles.
  • S.C.EGF (stem cells) - Help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin from fibroblast and to repair the skin.

If you're interested to get yourself a pampering facial session, don't hesitate to call them :) As a token of appreciation to all my readers, you’ll be entitled to get a RM 100 Treatment Discount Voucher from Cellnique. The Office Tapas & Grill @ Menara Haw Par

This year, Clumsy Boy and I celebrated our Valentine's day early because we bought a deal for RM 27.90 per person but unfortunately The Office Tapas & Grill's reservation on 14th February was already full! So we opted for 12th February then. Everyday is Valentine's day for us anyway!

Classy and cosy environment! I think I'd be awesome to sing here :p

The bar area

Herb Crusted Fish
Freshest Dory fillet grilled with garlic oil served with broken potatoes and buttered mix vegetables
Honestly, I think the generous amount of  herbs are awesome! The dory fillet is really smooth!

Classico Barbecued Lamb
The Office's signature succulent lamb loin marinated with homemade barbecued sauce, blended with special spices and grilled to perfection
The sauce was awesome! Anything paired with this sauce is super delicious, even my dory fillet! The lamb was cooked to perfection too. The meat was not too tough to cut.

Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup

 Hearty Tomato Soup
The soups taste really good but the portion was too small, almost half bowl only.

Mocktail: Home Alone (Strawberry Puree, Banana Puree)
I normally dislike fruit drinks but this is acceptable to my taste. Tastes like strawberry mixed Sprite.

Mocktail: Special Virgin Mojito (Fresh Mint, Brown Sugar, Lime Wedges, Sugar Cane)
Both Clumsy Boy and I don't really like the taste of this drink cos it's too 'green' if you know what I mean :p

Belgian Chocolate Brownies

Apple Pie
My favorite dessert! Lots of apple inside! YUMMY!!

How can we not have a photo together? We just cut our hair, Korean style!! LOL!
He hated his hair though. But I think it's cute! What you think?

Not much to complain from this visit except the bloody expensive parking rate at Menara Haw Par! Parking rate as below:
First hour: RM 3.10
Subsequent half an hour: RM 2.15

Address:
The Office Tapas & Grill
Ground Floor, Menara Haw Par,

250 feet Lou Sang Ceremony @ Jaya One

If you've read my previous post, you'll probably know that Chinese New Year is a boring season for me. But this year is a bit special though, because I was invited to the 250 feet lou sang event organized by Jaya One (update: held on 2nd January).

Many entertaining programmes were lined up for the event. It first started with a 24-Season Drums and Chinese Traditional Instruments followed by speeches by the VIPs that attended the event including YB Teresa Kok. After the speeches, Dragon Dance was performed. Both performances are full of energy and delivers a positive vibe to the audience.

The Dragon is waiting...

Ah Dragon Dance finally started!

Soon after that, the climax of the event finally arrived: Lou Sang ceremony!!! There were a lot of participants all united to 'lou hei' (bring things up a notch) in this Dragon year!

Let's Lou!

250 feet until the end

Mountain people, mountain sea (人山人海)!

After eating our food, we were presented with Lion Dance. The naughty but cute lions were truly entertaining with their acting. Some pretend to be scared, some pretend to fall in order to bring suspense to the audiences. It was a truly enjoying experience!
